There are generally two stages in orthodontic treatment. First is the active treatment phase and the second is the retention phase. Fixed or removable retainers are used to hold the teeth in their new position and ensure long-term results.

Fixed braces are permanent fixtures and are removed at the end of the treatment period. Brackets are either fixed to the front surfaces of your teeth referred to as Braces, or fixed behind the teeth referred to as Lingual Braces or hidden braces.
